Want to know what happens when you mix 1 part Haley with equal parts coffee, sleep deprivation, sugar, Benadryl, and odd metaphors*? Well, you're about to find out. Don't say I didn't warn ya though...
I had just given a metaphor to my lovely friend Posh. It mentioned safe vs. dangerous car speeds and forgetting something+ and going back for it. We both begin to wonder at what he had forgotten. This is what I came up with...
SporkGirl: Maybe he lost one of the parts to his vehicular device? Those are obviously important are they not?
Or an appendage?
Posh: yes, that could be it
one of the two lol
SporkGirl: I hear those can just randomly fall off at very inappropriate times.
Posh: yes, & i hate when that happens
hmph. lol
SporkGirl:OH I know what you mean, last week i had...my uh...arm! MY arm fell off! Boy did that suck.
AND you wouldn't imagine the doctors bills for getting it reattached. It was absolutely dreadful!#

*metaphor, metaphive...whatever it takes.
+ I am not at liberty to give the full metaphor at this time. Apologies.

Sisters
There are people who God just throws at you. People He puts there for you to care for and for them to care about you. I happen to be blessed with two such individuals. You know who you are and I love you both dearly. This is for you.
Life is hard. Always has been, always will be. But it's the difficulties that make it worthwhile. And they can make you stronger. And the great thing about it is you never have to go through them alone. These girls have stood by me and I them for quite a while now and we know each other so well. These two are just so full of wisdom and spunk and I don't even know if the realize it half the time. just listening to them talk makes me so beyond happy. we can spend hours talking about absolutely everything and be absolutely serious and then next thing you know we're being complete frootloops and should be locked up in straight jackets!
But I rely on them because they know me and I know them and we know each other and there is just so much knowledge going on! Together we've made each other stronger and have come to the realization that we are complete masochists. And I Love them.

Finding Yourself
Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind. ~Dr. Seuss
Who am I? It's a valid question. A question everyone faces eventually. But how do we find out? What can show us? Who can tell us? Why do we even need to know? I'll tell you why...We are not supposed to spend our entire life hiding behind a mask! And in truth it's just something you have to stumble upon. Like it just runs through your brain one day and you're all like, "OH, I get it now." No one can tell you who you are except yourself. So don't pretend to be something you're not. I know I do on occasion. And please don't be someone just to make someone else happy. Is there happiness really more important than you're own personal well being? And all truth be told why would you spend your time with someone you have to be fake for? If they don't truly love you for who you are (faults, mistakes, and all that jazz included) then they have no business with you.
It is better to be hated for what you are than to be loved for something you are not. ~Andre Gide
Finding yourself and accepting it is a lifelong journey. An important one that will teach you many things about yourself that you may have never known; limits, dreams, capabilities, strenghts, weaknesses. All I'm saying is that we shouldn't have to be anything we're not for anyone. And the sooner we realize that the better.
He who trims himself to suit everyone will soon whittle himself away. ~Raymond Hull

The August Adventure
It has been a crazy roller-coaster-of-a ride since the last time I posted! I bought myself a beautiful electric blue Coby mp3 player with my left over birthday money and let me tell you that was probably the best $40 I have ever spent. I've been slowly preparing for my third semester of college and final year of high school. I'm taking three classes at the H.S. and three at the college and I need to pick up my final books by the end of this week because class starts on the 23rd. And I can't help but repeatedly slam my head into a blunt object whenever I see how much my books are going to cost. Lucky for me I found them all on EBay and Amazon which saved me about $150. I seriously recommend getting every possible book someplace other than the college itself. They rob you of your money and then act like they're doing you a favor when they give you back $15 for a $150 book! But enough of that I have other things to tell you!
District conference was this weekend and it was awesometastic! {Don't argue with my language usage, just go with it.} For those of you who don't know what that is...
The Michigan District of the Church of The Brethren had their annual get together. Fascinating, no? We left on Friday morning after a hurried night of last-minute packing n' such. Friday was slow and quite frankly I didn't enjoy myself as much. But Saturday was amazing I met up with the youth group (see:ambush)and had a pretty amazing time. I even managed to find someone who's steadfastly becoming a solid friend. I can't explain how glorious it was to have worship everyday as well. And I went swimming...In a pool. *sigh* I like pools.
And now that we have returned home it's time to rush headlong into the 'before school' schedule. Which means an epic amount of cleaning on my part, shopping and a lot of lists because I like lists. Wish me luck!
Well, I should probably sign off now. NOAA is indicating a pretty wicked thunderstorm in our area and I want to post this before we lose power.

Oodles & Noodles
So far my summer has been...slow. As stated previously I attended Camp Brethren Heights in late June with Sami. It was definitely not what I had been expecting. I had genuine fun! The food was good (not Prager good but close), the people were entertaining to say the least, and I just had a good time. Sadly that was just about the biggest thing I've done all summer.
My 17th birthday came and went on the thirteenth of this month. It was nice not a big party but then again it never is. My family got me a cowbell! Pretty wicked huh? I bet you wish you had a cowbell? Jealous? You should be!
My various gardens are doing well. This year's edible lineup includes: Zucchini, pumpkins (which I did not plant), bell peppers (green orange and purple), six variations of tomatoes, basil, chives, oregano, lettuce, spinach, raspberries, blackberries, and pickling cucumbers. What a list, huh?
On a side note I will be a senior come fall. Scary isn't it?

Well summer break is finally here. Took way too long if you ask me. It's gonna be a good one I can tell! What are my plans you ask? Well let's see...
I'm going to go to church camp with Sam in two weeks. Then we have district conference for our church near the middle of August and those are my only definite plans. But I have other things that I want to get done...Like finishing The Order, When the Music Ends, War Games, and Of Fairy tales, Birds, and Suspenders. (i.e. the stories I've been working on) I've recruited some of my friends to be my new editors/beta readers/plot bunnies/muses/whatever I need them to be. (If you would like to be a part of this select group, give me a jingle). I've also started a 'letter writing campaign' of sorts amongst my friends because I have a deep-seated dislike for the telephone. Oh I also plan on getting a heck of a lot more sun than I did last year. I refuse to be the color of printing paper any longer! Seriously I was the whitest person out of everyone I knew. It was both hilarious and kinda creepy. So ya that's about it. Check in with y'all later.
Spork On!
P.S. My gardening is getting better every year. I'll have to post pictures when everything hits full bloom!
P.S.S. I'm a senior now! I totally graduate next year. Just thought I'd let you know.

Thursday's Shirt of Pure Awesomeness!

Alright, so I was meandering around the Alma Highland Festival last Saturday, ogling all those beautiful swords n' such when this little beauty caught my eye. That's right Bagpipe Hero! And here I was completely oblivious to it's existence. And you though Guitar Hero drove your parents nuts!
(Note: I did not attend the highland festival just to see some exceptionally good looking men in kilts...for the most part ;)

Thurdays Shirt of Pure Awesomness!!

I thought this shirt was appropriate due to the new Star Trek movie coming out in a few weeks. Ah Star Trek, I can hear the legions of Trekies now...*sigh* But seriously it's those poor nameless characters that always turn into cannon fodder, isn't it? Todays shirt is brought to you by J!NX and can be found here http://www.jinx.com/men/shirts/geek/crewman_6.html?catid=2&cs=2&csd=2

First off I want to apologize to everyone that is a fan of Twilight. I read the books and they were okay, deffinitly not the best thing that I've ever read but they were good.
And now...Isn't this the coolest thing ever? I'm not gonna lie, I really can't see vampires as anything besides something that should be killed...with a stake, a cleric or Buffy. *shrug* I don't care how sparkly they are. I mean if you kill mosquitos why not vampires? *mutters* Freakin' mosquitos...

Oh Snap! Literally...

Guess what surprise awaited us when we returned home from the concert Friday night? Imagine this...
Your driving home from Saginaw after the Newsboys concert. You spent the whole ride listening to, and singing quite obnoxiously, Newsies and Mamma Mia! Your riding this infinitely awesome high and you have a spiffy t-shirt. As your car passes your house and turns into your driveway you see a tree laying across your lawn, specifically your garden...You wait for your mother to bring the car to a rolling stop and leap out. Of course your mother yells after you to come pick up your stuff. You shout something along the lines of 'in a minute'....
That darned tree fell across our shed, completely destroying everything inside it. According to our neighbors on that side it fell about ten minutes after we left. We are very thankful no one got hurt. It's just...argh! Ya know? I mean everything was in there...all of my gardening equipment, the fishing gear, our bikes, the lawnmower...everything. And I roofed it! I was the only one small enough (see: not afraid of heights) to do it. Augh! You know what else is sad? Mom had just picked up the sticks in the yard before we left. And we can't do anything about it until the insurance company checks up on it...*grumbles*
Luckily there are some upsides to this
- large amounts of fire wood. I mean, we were kinda running low and we hate to buy it so this is good.
- The men at church have already offered to help us build a new one. Which I perfectly fine with as long as they let me roof it. 'cuz that's just how I roll...
- No one was hurt...

Ever heard of the Newsboys? Vota? DecemberRadio? Guess who got to see them in concert April 3rd? Me! They were at The Dow Event Center in Saginaw...and it was wicked awesome! I went with mom, and the siblings, and a two people from church. I was in awe. First off I've never been to a concert before. (Unless you count seeing Queen at Wembly and ELO on DVD...which I don't)And from a Christian point of view it was an experience that lifted my spirit into the stratosphere! Halfway through the Newsboys's performance they had an altar call. Literally hundreds of people came forward, it was amazing. And let me tell you, there is nothing as moving as hundreds of people praising the Lord. I cried, I'm not gonna lie.
Vota rocked! No ifs, ands, or buts, about it.
It was great...absolutely amazing...totally wicked...Made better by the fact that I sat on the right side of the stage, completely on level with it and the speakers, I couldn't hear until we came home two hours later. Oh! I have a t-shirt too. I'll have to put up a picture...it's pretty sweet.

Holy Boatloads-of-Sickness Batman
First off let me apologize for my prolonged absence. Sorry.
Secondly - Ick! I feel awful! Headache, sore throat, stomach ache, severe body temp fluctuations, I've had it all this past *counts* two months. As soon as I start feeling a bit better I go down hill again. It's absolutely ridiculous. So for those of you who do please keep me in your prayers.
Also, I'm the worlds biggest procrastinator. I seem to be losing my grip on certain things in my life (See: education, forensics, crafting, writing.) There is never enough time in the day and when there is I spend it blowing off steam by listening to music. Argh! *slams head into desk* I'll try and give a quick recap on whats happened between now and my last post.
- I've watched Fireproof. Great movie and I suggest everyone see it. I cried, I'm not gonna lie. And I just don't cry during movies, ever. Well...besides The Passion. I cried through the entire thing and continued to cry afterward...of subject. Sorry.
- Forensics has begun. I'm in Oratory this year. Not as fun as Informative, but it's good. Not doin' so hot though. Kind of failing actually. But my uncle's helping me get back on track and the team is working together now to get each other prepped. *nervous giggle* I'm going to be the senior member next year. The only one! As in I've been their longer than any one else!
- Boys suck. Well males of the 'my general age' variety suck.
- I like bulleting or is it dashing? Ah, who cares it's still fun.
- I have a headache!

College is Wicked Awesome!
Note: I would have posted this sooner but I never had the chance.
Guess what? Come on...guess. Aw, it's no fun if you don't. *tear* Are you sure? You will? Oh joy! *listens* Psh. No. Wrong! But that was a good try. You want to know the truth? OK, ready?
I ACED BOTH OF MY COLLEGE CLASSES LAST SEMESTER! *dances* Is that not the single most sweetest thing in the history of ever?!
*brushes lint off of shirt and coughs in embarrassment* So, ya, I'm kind of excited. But that was the fall semester and now I must worry about the winter semester. I'm taking Freshman English Composition and Intro to American Government. English is at the college and Gov't is online. I'm not gonna lie to you I'm enjoying it immensely. English isn't to bad so far. The reading is a bit more than I'm used to; however, I read so much that comprehension is fairly simple. I absolutely love Gov't. It's all kinds of fun, seriously. *hangs head in shame* I'm such a geek.

Things just happen, what the heck
Growing up is assumed to be gradual. Little by little, ya know? Wrong! It just kind of pounces on you, giving you only a few seconds to think 'What the heck?' before it's all over. I'm mean everyone knows it's coming. Yet it's surprisingly sneaky.
One day your sitting in the middle of class listening to your fifth grade teacher ramble on and on and the next thing you know your holding your high school diploma. (Oddly enough that is only a year away for me. My how time sure does fly.) We think we have so much time to prepare for life; then, when the time comes The Wisdom of the Ancients will come over us and BING we'll be adults. Wrong!
I mean sure, people give you helpful tips and tricks but in the ends it's all you. And no amount of preparing can tell you how to grow up. In the end all you can do is learn from the mistakes you and countless other have already made, make new ones, and keep moving forward.
Just something to think about, SG
